Tot School Week 1: Transportation Theme

in Homeschool on 09/17/15

First Day of Preschool: Tot School Week 1 - Transportation Theme | theoxmama.com

Obviously, you have to start every school year with a first day of school picture!

Week 1: TRANSPORTATION Theme

Tot School: Transportation Theme - These fun ideas are sure to keep your toddler or preschooler entertained during this fun homeschool week!

This was such a fun theme to start with! He loves all kinds of trucks, cars, and boats – so I figured this would be a wonderful theme to begin our homeschooling adventure!

Here is a list of our activities day by day:

Arts and Crafts Day:

Traffic Light Craft: I made three equal circles on a strip of white construction paper. Then he was able to practice cutting and we cut up a bunch of green, yellow, and red construction paper into pieces and had him glue the colors into the right circles

Train Painting: I had him grab a few trains and cars that he had with high wheels and we used them as paintbrushes and drove them across the paper in the paint! He loved this! I am so glad we got the idea from Jessica at Play-trains.com here.

Library and Book Day:

Color Book + Cutting Practice: I found these adorable transportation color pages from Mama’s Learning Corner here. He was able to practice cutting, tracing words, and coloring – then we stapled it together to make a book! You can see a picture of it next to the traffic light pictured above.

Tracing + Letter & Number Day:

Tracing: For our tracing practice, we printed out some pages to trace our letter and number of the week. We also practiced tracing lines from words to pictures. We got that page from this great set from The Measured Mom blog.

Snack Day:

Snack: We try to have a theme snack or meal at least once a week or do something fun in the kitchen! This week we made these delicious and fun traffic light graham cracker snacks from The Seasoned Mom here!

Game + Video Day:

Game: We cut out a red, green, and yellow circle and put them on popsicle sticks and played red light- green light!

Videos: We found these cute short videos that talked about transportation!

We also laminated some wonderful clipart of transportation vehicles to make matching “puzzles” out of! I am starting to have an obsession with LAMINATING! I want to laminate everything!

Here is the wonderful laminator we use!

Happy Homeschooling!
