Toddler Snacks and Playing With Food

in Featured, Food, Parenting on 09/24/16

I love getting to say “yes” to my children. Toddler snacks are something I love to say “yes” to. Because if you’re a mom, you know what happens when you tell a toddler “no!” Even when I do intend to tell them no, I usually try to include a “yes” statement first. “Yes you can play with those toys, but not until after you eat your dinner”. Their little toddler brain likes hearing yes and they’re more likely to listen even if you are still telling them “not right now”.

(Side note: I am in the process of writing a book about concepts like this and how to connect with your toddler’s brain!)

I also like to save my battles and let them be little as much as I can. Sure, things can get messy at times but who cares?! A little mess never hurt anyone!

I let my kids play with their food. I like that they can explore texture and kids learn best when they play! Why should food be excluded? My children know they shouldn’t waste food. If they want to play with their food, that’s fine, but they are going to eat it too!

And honestly, they seem to eat their food more while they are playing! One of my three year old’s favorite phrases right now is “play, eat! Play, eat!”. I love this, because it actually gets him to eat and stay in his chair!

We were introduced to Gerber Lil’ Beanies recently and I am so excited about them!

Reasons I say YES to these toddler snacks:

  • They are made from the goodness of navy beans
  • Have 2 grams of protein (9% Daily Value)
  • 1 gram of fiber
  • 10% Daily Value of Vitamin E
  • Not made with genetically engineered (GM) ingredients
  • They are baked!
  • NO artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives!
  • They are toddler approved!

Walmart has these Gerber toddler snacks in two flavors – giving your toddler a choice between them! Gerber Lil’ Beanies come in Original and White Cheddar and Broccoli flavors! Head on over to your local Walmart and let your toddler choose their favorite! They are fun to eat and fun to play with – accomplishing both of my goals! This mama gets to say yes AND let them play with their food! Nolan was so excited to play and try this new snack! He played with the containers forever! He would stack them on top of each other and say “BUILD, BUILD, BUILD!”

What are your favorite toddler snacks that you can say YES to?

I am all about these snacks, but did you hear that you shouldn’t feed it to them after like 4 days or something?

My husband and I love Gerber products. The snacks for tots are so good and also very safe for toddlers to eat. It’s encouraging to know I do not have to worry about them choking because the snacks easily dissolve. Plus, my toddlers really love how good they taste. 🙂
