NYC Girls Trip: Style & Food Guide

Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE NYC! There’s just something about it that’s so magical and exactly like the movies! It was a dream getting to go to New York with two of my favorite people!

Girls Trip: NYC Food and Style Guide

There’s something about the huge buildings, tiny streets, and crowds of people. About the amazing food found in unexpected places, the history, and the brightest lights that make nighttime seem like day.

I believe that when you go to New York, you should do touristy things as much as you can! Some guides will tell you to avoid these things but that’s what brings the adventure and makes it feel like New York City. Check out this post about the time my hubby and I took our boys to NYC. It has food suggestions and some great tips (especially if you are bringing children!)

Girls Trip

This trip was different! It was a girls trip! With no kiddos! Well technically TJ did come – but that doesn’t count because we wore him the whole week and he was so content and happy, you hardly knew he was there. 😉 It was so fun to plan with these ladies and share this trip, doing as many New Yorky things as we could!

New York City in the fall is so beautiful! We went on our trip at the end of October and the weather was perfect! It was pretty rainy one of the days, but nothing us Portlanders couldn’t handle!

The last three times I’ve been to NYC I’ve stayed at The New Yorker. It’s a great hotel and the location is perfect! It’s next to Penn Station and it’s close to pretty much everything. If it’s not in walking distance, the subway is right around the corner! Plus you might even get lucky enough to see the Empire State Building from your room! This picture is our day and night view!

These outfits worked great – it was a little chilly, so if I wasn’t babywearing, I might add my peacoat! Which outfit was your favorite?

Food Guide

This part of the guide could go on FOREVER. However, I will only give you a few suggestions from what we did on this trip!

Food & What to eat in NYC | |Packing for New York City | NYC Fall Food + Style Guide

  1. Doughnuttery – these mini donuts are amazing! You can choose from so many different flavors and dips! If you don’t go here, pretty much any place in Chelsea Market will do. ALL GOOD.
  2. King’s Carriage House – this little place would be easily missed walking down the street but so worth it! Although I’ve only done high tea here, it is a great option! Especially if you love delicious tea, scones, and fun staff!
  3. Kellogg’s Cereal Bar – This is a recent opening and it is SO cool. It is the perfect place for a quick breakfast! I wish I could eat this every morning! My bowl had Honey Smacks, Pecans, Banana Chips, and honey drizzled on top – all over milk! YUM!
  4. Black Tap – I could say so much about this place. The burger I had was probably one of the best burgers I have ever had! Ever. AND just look at that milkshake! Who tops a delicious milkshake with an equally delicious cookie ice cream sandwich?!? This place. That’s who.
  5. Sugar and Plumm – This is one of favorite breakfast/brunch places in the city! These are their famous Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and they were just as good as their Crunch French Toast I had the last time. I want to go here every time I go to NYC.

What am I missing?! It’s likely I will go again, so tell me, what’s your favorite spot to eat?!

Oh man, I wish I could go back to NY! We literally stopped through for about 6 hours one day and it wasn’t enough. We tried to cram as much as possible into that time and we did pretty good for being self guided tourist on a whirlwind tour of the city. The food all sounds amazing! The only thing we had to eat there was a hot dog from a street vendor. Still totally authentic though right? 😉
