Traveling with a Newborn Baby and Beyond

in Family, Featured, Travel on 08/15/18

I know most of you clicking on this post are seeking tips because you HAVE to travel with your baby and you’re panicking. I’ve been there. Hours and hours of searching on Pinterest, reading blog after blog. I definitely did this the first few times traveling with our babies, especially traveling with a newborn baby.

However, now my husband and I love travelling with our kids – especially when they are little!

Every single one of our four kids had either been on a plane or road trip before 3 months old. Some of them both!

We have flown across the country with them, driven up and down the whole west coast, drove up through Canada, and taken two of our boys camping as NEWBORNS!

It is definitely not easy but it IS possible and there are things to make the process easier. AND enjoyable!

Traveling with a Newborn Baby

With our newest babe, we did a 4 hour road trip when he was 5 days old and a camping trip at 5 weeks old! The one thing we could NOT have done it without was our Dockatot! We were gifted a Deluxe Dock from Dockatot but I will never go without it. Especially while traveling with our babies!

We didn’t have a Dockatot on any of our airplane travels, yet, but I will definitely be bringing it with me when my mom and I fly to NYC at the end of the year! The Dockatot is 100% cotton and has been tested for breathability! Since we don’t normally co-sleep with our kids, we mostly use our Dock for travel and for naps. However, on the nights that he does wake up early, we love putting him back to sleep next to us in his Dockatot to be safe! When you travel with it, it is so easy (and safe) to have the baby sleep with you in your hotel bed (or camping tent)!

Here are my biggest tips:

  • Bring a Dockatot for safe co-sleeping
  • Buy diapers at your destination and save SO much packing room
  • Always bring an extra pacifier and blanket!
  • Don’t bother bringing toys for older kids – they almost always never end up playing with them.
  • Babywearing is ALWAYS a good idea
  • Bring throw away sippy cups like these. We use them for snacks, quick drinks of water, and more!

I hope this was helpful! Remember, you can get $10 off you Dockatot by using this referral link: http://dockatot.refr.cc/STJVGW2
